Become a Purple Heart Entity

A Purple Heart Entity is a recognized entity that publicly honors Purple Heart recipients and combat wounded veterans.

This recognition may apply to a place, organization, neighborhood, community, or group that chooses to make a visible and lasting commitment to honor the sacrifices represented by the Purple Heart Medal.

A Purple Heart Entity should be willing to publicly say:

Purple Heart recipients are welcome here.

Combat wounded veterans are respected here.

Sacrifice is not forgotten here.

Military Order of the Purple Heart is looking for entities that are willing to make a sincere, visible, and lasting commitment to honor Purple Heart recipients. We are looking for entities that believe sacrifice should be seen, honored, and remembered in the community. This program is not simply about placing a sign on a wall or in a parking lot. It is about understanding the meaning behind that sign and honoring the men and women who gave part of themselves in defense of this nation.

To be considered for recognition as a Purple Heart Entity through Military Order of the Purple Heart, the applying entity should meet the following criteria.

1. Commitment to Honor Purple Heart Recipients
2. The entity must show a sincere desire to honor Purple Heart recipients, combat wounded veterans, and those who were wounded or killed in service to the United States.
3. This recognition should be rooted in respect, remembrance, and gratitude.
4. Public Recognition of Sacrifice
5. The entity should be willing to publicly recognize Purple Heart recipients in a visible and meaningful way. This may include displaying a Purple Heart Entity sign, Purple Heart parking sign, proclamation, website recognition, or another approved form of public acknowledgment.
6. Respectful Use of Purple Heart Recognition
7. The Purple Heart Entity Program exists to honor Purple Heart recipients and combat wounded veterans with dignity and respect.
8. Entities must agree that Purple Heart recognition will be used only in a manner that reflects the meaning of the Purple Heart Medal and the sacrifice it represents.
9. This recognition should remain focused on service, sacrifice, remembrance, and gratitude.

Approved Purple Heart Entities may receive local recognition through MOPH and will be submitted for inclusion in the National Purple Heart Trail program listing. If your entity is willing to stand with Purple Heart recipients and help ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten, we invite you to apply to become a Purple Heart Entity.
